It's Strange How Life Happens

Today I attended church in Orderville because my cousin who recently returned from his mission was speaking. Our families were really close. We grew up right next door to each other. I often say we were like one big family that lived in two houses. I have always thought of him as my little brother. I have been thinking a lot lately about the fact that he is now a return missionary. This is really going to give away my age but he was a third grader when I was a senior! The reason I remember that is because I was an Elementary aid for his class that year. I now have been thinking of girls that I could set him up with. Well he is coming to town tomorrow (Monday) and I had the great idea of making him come to my singles ward family home evening. He seems excited. Well this is where I decided it gets strange. He was in third grade when I was a senior and now he is hanging out with me in a singles ward. What?

It's hard to believe those boy are that old huh! I got to talk to Nick last week at church when I was over tending for my parents. He looks good, but remember when return missionaries were old...those were the days. Have fun at the singles ward activities with our little cousin. :) Oh, funny story. I was working at the bookstore yesterday and just happened to work with your cousin Katie. But we already knew that Orderville is the center of the universe so there is always some connection with people. Ok this was a long comment. We need haircuts soon so I'll have to get with you. Talk to you soon!

I'm so sad I missed it. I'm glad that you are adult enough to think it's cool to hang it with your lil' cousin. I thoroughly enjoy it because it makes me feel younger. Maybe that's your excuse too!

That's crazy! When we first met, Nick was just a little boy. And yeah- I too remember the day when returned missionaries seemed so old. The thing that makes me feel old these days- is the fact that the 3rd graders that I student taught are now Juniors. When I was in third grade high school seemed soooo far away, but as an adult those years since I have student taught flew right on by. It doesn't seem like very long ago. Crazy time!!!
